Eahora X7 PRO Electric Bike

The Eahora X7 PRO is a mid-range electric bike that comes with some impressive features. The manufacturer is known for its unique design and durable bikes.

Even though foldable electric bikes are often more suitable for city dwellers and pavement, that’s not the case with the X7 PRO.

Sure, it’s perfectly at home on busy city streets, but it’s going to impress you even more if you take it out for riding on rough terrains and inclines. This is a bike that can do it all and at a reasonable price too.

Motor

The Eahora X7 Pro is equipped with a 500W brushless motor, which is powerful enough to push you uphill when you really need it to.

You can reach 30 mph in less than 10 seconds, on flat grounds of course. The X7 will get you from point A to point B if you’re in a rush, but it’s also capable of a high-speed ride over bumpy terrain.

The battery will take up to 4-5 hours to charge in full with the standard 2.0 smart charger.

E-Pas System

What makes Eahora electric bikes extra special is the patented power assist technology. The company has put a lot of effort into creating more sustainable and eco-friendlier bikes.

In the case of the X7 Pro, the result is an optimized motor and a much longer battery life. When riding an Eahora electric bike, the E-Pas system will automatically convert the kinetic energy into electricity when you’re going downhill.

Whenever you’re going downhill at over 15 mph, the battery will be able to store energy and in doing so, it’s going to last longer. With E-Pas, you may be able to travel up to 55 miles before needing a recharge.

Frame and Tires

The Eahora X7 Pro’s frame is all aluminum alloy. The mechanical front suspension has a travel of 100mm. The hydraulic rear suspension, also aluminum alloy, has a travel of 20mm.

Overall, this bike has excellent shock absorption and will do a great job of removing the vibrations of riding on rugged terrains.

The fat tires are a recognizable feature of this awesome-looking foldable e-bike. They are 4 inches across and 20” in diameter.

The bike also has wide rims for better comfort. You also don’t have to worry about getting a flat since the tires are supposed to have a minimal risk of puncture. All in all, this is a very safe and comfortable electric bike that can be ridden even on snow, mud, and sand.

Folding the X7 only takes three steps. It’s an absolute space-saver and will fit in the trunk of most cars with ease. It weighs 64 lbs., which could be too much for some, but that’s the price to pay for its sturdiness.

Furthermore, the maximum weight capacity is just below 330 lbs. As for the rider height, the adjustable seat and handlebars mean that it’s suitable for all heights (within reason).

Brakes and Shifter

One of the most important things about any bikes, including e-bikes, is the shifter. The Shimano 7-speed shifter and Shimano M310 derailleurs will make sure that the transition from one speed to another is seamless.

Most importantly, this shifter will remain responsive even after extended use. You have three working modes with the Eahora X7 Pro – pedaling, E-bike, and E-Pas.

Regarding the brakes, they are the highly responsive Tektro F&R mechanical disc brakes.

Seat and Saddle

What’s the purpose of getting an amazing electric bike if it’s too uncomfortable to sit on? At least you don’t have to worry about it here. The X7 Pro comes with a really soft and comfortable saddle, which will also serve to provide a safer ride.

The saddle has a twist throttle, which is very easy to control. Also, there’s no fear of slipping off your seat when you’re traveling at a higher speed.

Who Is It for?

The short answer here would be – everyone. However, for people who want something just for the city and at a lower motor power, the Eahora X7 Pro will probably not be the first choice. The fat tires are ideal for more challenging terrain.

If you live in a more rural area or plan to visit such a place, you can just fold up the X7 and take it with you. On top of that, the bike is really stylish, and it’s great for people who want to combine durability, performance, and style in an electric bike.

Warranty

All Eahora electric vehicles come with a long warranty. You get five years of warranty for the frame and two years for the battery. You also receive a five-month warranty for the accessories.

A manufacturer’s warranty can often be quite telling. In this instance, you might assume that this is an electric bike that’s built to last. The frame, the E-Pas technology, and the warranty offer a guarantee of quality.

Summary

The Eahora X7 Pro looks like a bike that you probably dreamed about when you were a kid. Only now it’s available for grown-ups who still have it in them to want to look cool. But it’s not only about the design, as this bike also performs extremely well.

This can be a great option for those who can’t get a full-sized bike for the space requirement. It’s not too big and it’s foldable without compromising the speed, travel distance, or overall quality.

In closing, the Eahora X7 Pro can be perfect for those who aren’t ready to spring for a high-end e-bike but are not ready to settle for the cheap stuff either.

Vtuvia 20-Inch Fat Tire Folding Electric Bike

You’ll be hard-pressed to find an urban e-bike more versatile than the Vtuvia 20-Inch model. First of all, it’s foldable and you probably know that most foldable e-bikes feature small wheels and are best for commuting. But not this Vtuvia model. It’s more powerful and more comfortable than most e-bikes of its class.

You’re looking at an all-terrain electric bike that can take your breath away. Here’s what makes the Vtuvia 20-inch fat tire folding electric bike so unique.

General Overview

The Vtuvia 20-inch model has rather large wheels for any electric bikes. You can take it where you’d generally take a mountain e-bike, but that’s not to say that it can perform at its best.

However, whether you’re driving around on unpaved roads, or trying to beat the traffic to work, the Vtuvia 20-inch has got your back. It really is an all-terrain e-bike.

Three Modes

Some e-bikes don’t have a full-pedal mode or a full-electric mode. However, this Vtuvia does both and also has a pedal-assist mode.

The first and most basic transportation mode is the one where you’re using your own power to move the bike. In other words, just like on the traditional bike. Only a bit more difficult, seeing as how e-bikes are heavier because of the electronics. This mode is for when you want to work out or if the battery’s out.

The second mode engages the electric motor but not at full capacity. It’s a pedal-assist mode, where you will have to do some legwork, but assisted by the motor, so to speak. This mode is rather intuitive and can supply a boost when you need it most.

Finally, the third mode is one where you just sit back and steer the bike, allowing the motor to do all the work. This mode, of course, will use up the battery the most.

Range

Like full electric cars, electric bikes can only take you so far. On a single charge, the Vtuvia 20-inch can take you as far as 35 miles. That is a considerable distance for e-bikes and assuming with no pedaling. If you use the pedal-assist mode, you’ll get even farther, with all else equals.

If the battery happens to die, you’ll still be able to ride this e-bike like a regular one.

So, what’s behind it all? It’s a 48V lithium-ion battery that can store up to 12Ah of juice. This thing charges in as little as 6 hours.

Speed

Where the range of an e-bike is largely determined by its battery, the speed has a lot to do with the motor. Entry-level e-bikes are powered by 300 to 350W motors. In comparison, the Vtuvia 20-Inch is packing it with a 500W motor, which is stunning for the category.

This motor allows the e-bike to travel at up to almost 30mph. This is a lot for an electric bike. In fact, it’s illegal in some areas, so keep that in mind.

Tires and Wheels

As mentioned earlier, the Vtuvia 20-Inch is an all-terrain electric bike. As you may know, it’s the tires that make this bike an all-terrain vehicle.

First of all, the wheels are 20” and mounted on them are thick and really macho-looking tires that can take you on a wide variety of terrains. Snowy passes, sandy beaches, and unpaved roads, you name it and the Vtuvia 20-Inch can handle it.

The big treads on the tires are great for off-road use. In combination with the wheels, this bike has a good grip on all slippery surfaces. They’re also big enough to tackle various inclines and terrains while offering comfortable rides. And the suspension system has a lot to do with comfort here.

Build, Suspension, and Transmission

To be agile and fast, an e-bike has to be made of a light material to compensate for the added weight of the motor and battery. And aluminum answers the call in this regard. Of course, it’s not going to be pure Al for it can corrode and break off. Just like people add other metals to iron to make a whole range of steel, the material of choice is a type of aluminum alloy.

The front fork is also made of aluminum and the hydraulic system works as a shock absorber. This is great for your comfort and the bike’s durability.

For the transmission, the Vtuvia 20-Inch sticks with a typical Shimano 7-speed system common in mountain electric bikes.

Brakes

The brakes are absolutely vital to any vehicle. An e-bike of this power needs a reliable brake system and the manufacturer accordingly went with disk brakes for both the front and rear wheels. Plus, the moment you brake, the power to the motor gets cut off for a more reliable stop.

Portability

Finally, as mentioned earlier, the Vtuvia 20-Inch is a foldable e-bike. This powerful e-bike actually neatly folds into the size of a small suitcase. You won’t be able to put it in the backpack, but you won’t have to leave it outside, either.

At 54 lbs., it definitely isn’t the lightest e-bike around, but that’s what you get for an e-bike that can handle up to 350 lbs. of weight; it’s always good to have the extra capacity.

Summary

The Vtuvia 20-Inch is one of the best e-bikes at its price range. It’s powerful, fast, handles beautifully. It also has a good range and weight capacity.

You’d expect a model like this one to cost way over $1,000, but you’d be wrong. The price of the Vtuvia 20-Inch may surprise you and it can be a good choice for those who are looking for a quality and versatile e-bike.

Ecotric Fat Tire Folding Electric Bike

Many people are using e-bikes for commuting and that’s because it’s the original purpose of e-bikes in the first place. This is why commuter e-bikes exist and they can be quite different than mountain e-bikes, both of which come with benefits of their own. Back to the topic at hand, the Ecotric Fat Tire Folding e-bike is one of the most popular on the market. As you can tell, it’s very compact and can easily accommodate indoor and vehicular spaces. Here’s more about this Ecotric model.

Motor and Battery

Needless to say, the motor and the battery of e-bikes are interdependent. Without any fuel, the battery is the motor’s only source of power. In this respect, the Ecotric bike’s motor packs quite a punch. At 500W, it’s on par with what’s offered on some more expensive models. This is a brushless motor, meaning that it uses magnets to turn the transformer, rather than any shafts. This means no friction and therefore less heating and better performance and reliability.

The battery is rated at 36V and 12Ah, which is more than enough for most commute situations. But you can also tell that the 500W rating for the motor is peak power – because P = IV (I = current and V = voltage) and you’re not going to get 500W from 12A times 36V.

The range is 18-23 miles of assisted pedaling and the maximum speed is 20mph, which makes it legal almost anywhere.

The battery takes 6-8 hours to charge, meaning that you’ll be ready to roll at the break if you charge it as soon as you get in the office. It’s important to note that the battery can last as much as two-and-a-half hours on level ground.

The Speed System

Like most commute e-bikes, this Ecotric is equipped with a 7-speed Shimano system. Some mountain e-bikes also use this system, which testifies to its capability.

Comfort

Where performance meets comfort in mountain bikes, it may not work like this in commuter e-bikes. For the latter, it’s all about improving the driver’s experience, even at the risk of sacrificing performance.

Unfortunately, this Ecotric model doesn’t use suspension forks, so you can expect to feel the road (but isn’t that what’s all sportscar drivers crave?). It does have an unicrown fork, but don’t expect it to do miraculous works.

On the other hand, the tires are something else on this e-bike. They’re 20” X 4”, which means that mud, snow, sand, and other soft terrains won’t present too many problems.

In fact, you won’t find a better set than a pair of 20” wheels and paired with 160mm disc brakes. There isn’t a better combination for urban e-cycling, for one. The brakes are also equipped with a system that immediately turns off the bike’s motor in the event of an abrupt stop.

Folding Frame

A commuter e-bike that’s not foldable is a bike that may not make a lot of sense. In fact, you can find cheap mountain e-bikes that are probably more practical.

The Ecotric Fat Tire Folding e-bike is very foldable in that it folds to half the frame. The handlebar is also foldable. When folded, this bike is only 39” long and 28” tall, which is definitely compact.

Now, it may not be the lightest bike around, but 51.2 lbs. is not a lot when you consider how sturdy this bike is. Plus, the extra sturdy build means that it can carry 240 lbs. of rider/luggage weight, which is quite something.

So, you can easily store this Ecotric inside your office, car, garage, etc. During the winter, it won’t take too much space at home. And its ability to fit inside any trunk gives some extra adaptability.

The Two Modes

Some bikes offer multiple modes of power. There are those that offer sport modes (though mostly mountain e-bikes), half-assisted modes, and so on.

As for the Ecotric Fat Tire Folding, it’s a bike that offers two basic modes. You can select the manual power-only mode and use it like a regular bike. Or you can engage the pedal-assist mode and turn it into an electric bike. For the latter, there are three pedal assist levels of low, mid, and high.

The throttle, however, isn’t thumb-activated. It’s the half-twist type that motorcycle riders are very familiar with. To propel this Ecotric model forward, just turn the throttle with your hand.

The LED Display

Like most modern electric bikes, the Ecotric Fat Tire Folding comes with a LED display, and in this case, it’s located on the handlebar. It’s like a smartphone that tracks everything related to the bike itself.

The display contains the bike’s battery level, pedal assist levels, on/off button, and cruise control setting.

You’ll find more information displayed on the screen, but these are the key features.

Other Accessories

Riding a bike, electric or otherwise, always comes with risk. This is why the Ecotric Fat Tire Folding e-bike features reflectors on the wheels, the front, and the rear.

The handlebar and the seat are also adjustable, but they’re not recommended for people beyond the range of 5’2” to 6’1” in height.

Summary

Commuting with this e-bike can be a ton of fun. Expect effortless rides, as the pedal-assist mode works perfectly. It’s almost as if it’s reading your mind. The moment you start pedaling, the motor is engaged, and everything becomes easier.

The Ecotric Fat Tire Folding is a foldable e-bike that comes with a powerful battery and motor for the money. It’s comfortable, fun, and fast. Mountain e-bikes can be used for commuting, but nothing beats a solid urban e-bike in this regard.

Ancheer 26-Inch Folding Electric Mountain Bike Review

Introducing: the Ancheer Folding Electric Mountain Bike

Quick Specs:

  • 26″ folding mountain bike
  • 250w hub motor
  • 36V 8AH lithium-ion battery
  • 21-speed Shimano transmission system
  • front and rear shock absorbers
  • mechanical front and rear disc brakes
  • bright LED headlight and a reflector at the rear

3 Riding Modes

You can select between 3 riding modes:

  1. Pedal only (no motor power)
  2. Pedal-assist (pedal and motor power)
  3. Pure electric (motor power only).

You can easily control your riding speed by selecting your desired power mode on the handlebar’s display panel.

Handlebar Controls

On the right-hand side of the handlebar you will find the Shimano gear-shift mechanism, the throttle, headlight switch and horn. On the left-hand side is the power mode selection panel. Here you can power on/off the bike and select the level of power you wish to use.

When you start pedaling, pedal-assist power mode kicks in. It feels as if someone is pushing you from behind, which is quite amazing. If you want to use the throttle, select “Low” power mode on your Key Display, then press “Low” one more time. Now, when you carefully turn the throttle toward you, the bike will propel itself forward using battery power while you relax and enjoy the view.

Battery and Charger

The lithium-ion 36v 8AH battery and charger are included with the bike. The battery is housed in a zipper pouch immediately in front of the handlebar, above the headlight. In very cold weather, the battery tends to discharge more rapidly when you’re riding.

A word of warning: the electrical cables are clasped together by nylon cable ties, the cut-off ends of which tend to be quite sharp and capable of scratching your skin.

Recharging the Batterya

The battery charger is situated on the down-bar in front of the seat bar. On the right-hand side is a little port where you plug in the charger cable to recharge your battery. Unfortunately, the battery can only be charged on the bike; you can’t remove it to charge at your place of work or elsewhere away from the bike.

Hub Motor and Throttle

The Rambler-style Ancheer is propelled by a 250W motor which can achieve a top speed of around 17 mph, depending on prevailing conditions. You’ll find the electric throttle on the right-side handlebar grip. The more you twist the throttle towards you, the faster you’ll go.

Brakes

Front and rear wheels have dual disc brakes. They provide strong braking power to protect your riding safety.

Wheels, Tires and Fenders

Unlike regular mountain bike wheels, the Ancheer’s double-layer aluminum alloy wheels have a rather slim profile, almost as with a road bike. Tire measurements are 26″ x 1.95″. They can take a pressure of 40-65 PSI.

It’s highly recommended that you do not omit attaching the fenders to the bike. Apart from the fenders protecting you from muddy splashes, there are more important reasons for having them in place:

There’s a hole in the frame to accommodate the screw that holds the rear fender in place; if you don’t have the fender on and you ride in the rain or wash your bike, water could enter the tubing and affect the sensor where the crank is. The sensor tells the bike how much assist to give; if you have water coming in there, it could damage the sensor.

Frame and Saddle

There are 2 holes on the upper side of the aluminum frame which could be used for attaching a water bottle etc. Just behind that is the hinge mechanism for folding and unfolding the bike.

The saddle is not padded and you might find it comfortable. In that case, you should consider getting a different saddle for the bike. The stand on which it’s mounted is also quite short, which might not suit a long-legged rider.

The front and rear suspension means you have the most comfortable ride possible over rough ground.

About the Kick-Stand:

The kick-stand is situated in such a position where your left foot comes very close to it when you pedal. You might find that your shoe snags it as you pedal.

Remember, ebike electrical components are typically water-resistant but not waterproof. It is therefore not recommended that you ride in heavy rain. A short ride in light rain is OK – just dry off your bike with a towel when you get home and you should be fine.

By all accounts, the Ancheer 26-inch folding electric bike is more than just a mountain bike. If you’re looking for a versatile ebike, this one is sure to suit you.

  • Lithium-Ion Battery Under a Budget – The 36V 10.4Ah high-efficiency lithium battery fully charges in 4 to 6 hours. Once it is fully charged, you can travel up to 50 miles using the pedal-assisted mode. You can also ride it in electric mode only using the thumb throttle.
  • High-Performance Motor – The Onway 36v 26″ beach cruiser e-bike has a powerful 500W motor. This allows a top speed of 18 miles per hour; it ensures the battery lasts longer than e-bikes with a 750W motor. It features Shimano 7-speed gears to give you the ultimate riding experience.

Introducing: the Fiido D2 16" Folding Electric Bike

The Fiido D2 comes folded compactly inside a box with a user manual and a small set of tools. Once you snip off the nylon ties, it’s easy to unfold the body and handlebar sections and secure them in place. The final steps are to attach the seatbar and tighten or adjust the necessary parts.

Snipping the nylon ties

Unfolding the D2 ebike

Positioning the handlebar

Attaching the D2 seatbar

The Fiido D2 folding electric bike is very soundly constructed, with great attention to detail. Its frame is made of high-strength aluminum alloy, making it lightweight and rustproof. A support bar on the upper part of the frame doubles as a handle for easy carrying.

Handlebar

On the left side of the handlebar you have a switch to turn the headlamp on or off. Just beneath that is the mode selection switch where you can choose between 3 different running modes. Pressing the red button below that switch will sound the electric horn.

Also on the left handlebar is an adjustable bracket to secure your cellphone (especially handy when you’re using GPS). Immediately below is a USB port to charge your phone while you’re riding. You can check the battery level by viewing the LED screen on the right handlebar. The bike is fitted with metal mudguards with rubbery shields at the ends to protect you from splashes.

Riding In the Rain

The FIIDO D2 ebike has a IP54 waterproof rating. Riding your ebike in the rain is possible; after a short ride, just towel-dry your bike and you shouldn’t have any problems. The bike is protected against solid objects and splashing of water from any angle.

However, riding in heavy rain for an extended period of time is not recommended, as water could reach the electrical areas in such conditions. For the same reason, you should avoid using a pressure hose to clean your ebike. (See our article: “How to Maintain an Electric bike“).

To cushion your ride, there is an adjustable air shock-absorber below the seat, on the rear part of the frame. You can use a regular air pump to increase the pressure, or press the valve to deflate it for a “softer” ride.

There are other adjustment options you can take advantage of to customize the bike to your personal preferences. The handlebar height and angle are both adjustable, as is the seat height. Combined with the air shock absorber, this makes the Fiido D2 a very comfortable electric bike to ride. It’s an amazing feeling when you seem to “float” over obstacles.

Folding Mechanism

It is very easy to secure and lock the frame folding mechanism. The handlebar and pedals fold very easily as well. You’ll be able to fold the ebike in a few seconds (after a little practice!).

Folding the Fiido D2 Ebike

Done!

Battery and Charger

The 36V 7.8AH lithium battery is built in and is recharged through the charging port on the bike (US charging cable). Charging time is 4-5 hours.

The battery has a maximum range of 50 kilometers on one charge (in assisted mode). Using electric power only, the running time is 25-30 km.

Motor and Accelerator

This ebike is propelled by a 250W brushless hub motor which can achieve 25 km/h. You’ll find the electric throttle on the right-side handlebar grip. The more you twist the throttle towards you, the faster you’ll go! Until you get used to the bike, be careful when you use the throttle – it accelerates quite rapidly.

Battery and Charger

Dual disc mechanical brakes on front and rear wheels make the braking system as safe and effective as possible.

Manuals and Tools

The Fiido D2 ebike comes with a battery manual and an operating manual, which describes how to operate the bike, how to fold it, how to set the working modes, where all the components are located and a detailed list of the ebike’s specifications. And there’s a handy tool set too, so you can put the bike together as quickly as possible.

Summary

The Fiido D2 folding electric bike is an ideal ebike for riding around town, commuting and general road use. For design, construction and price, it can rank as one of the best folding electric bikes.

Swagtron EB-7 Plus Electric Bike

If you’ve tried the Swagtron EB-7, you’d know that it’s a highly capable electric bike. However, a few years after its release, it has run into lots of worthy competitors — that’s until Swagtron released an updated version of the EB-7 called the EB-7 Plus and it’s safe to say that it’s a major upgrade over its predecessor.

This bike is definitely not made for rough terrains, but in urban environments, it’s almost as good as it gets.

Here’s more about the fantastic Swagtron EB-7 Plus electric bike.

The Improvements

If you’ve ever tried to research the Swagtron EB-7, you’d probably want to know about the improvements in the Plus version.

To begin with, the EB-7 Plus is a direct update over its predecessor. It has 23% more power. Then you’ve got a battery lock, LED display, and horn improvements, together with a completely adjustable seat.

So, the EB-7 Plus is what happens when a company listens to its customers. Swagtron released the original EB-7, sold lots of it, and listened to user suggestions.

Power and Battery

As mentioned, you can expect 23% more power over the EB-7. So, the company has managed to come out with a new motor.

In terms of battery, you’re also looking at something quite regular. It’s a 36V lithium-ion package. However, most 36V batteries will take about 6 hours to charge in full. With the EB-7 Plus, however, you’re looking at something like 3 to 4 hours. Even if you’re working part-time, you’ll be able to fully charge the battery in the meantime.

Here’s something that’s become very popular with e-bikes — the battery is detachable. This also means that you can buy another compatible battery and double your riding range. Not only that, but you can get one for spare and you wouldn’t have to stress if the original battery were to give out.

This battery on full-throttle mode has a range of up to 19 miles. Again, this is on full electric mode where you’re not pedaling at all. In pedal-assist mode, you’ll get even more miles.

Water Resistance

Of course, all bikes are water-resistant nowadays in that they’re not going to rush if they get wet. For e-bikes, however, the battery is the only piece of electronics that can break down if exposed to too much water.

As with the EB-7 Plus, Swagtron has gone to the trouble of getting an IPX4 waterproof rating for the battery. This rating means that the battery is water-resistant, but you wouldn’t want to submerge the bike in a body of water for any significant period of time and expect it to work afterward. However, torrential rain shouldn’t be a problem for the Swagtron EB-7 Plus’s battery.

Ergonomics and Design

As soon as you lay eyes on the EB-7 Plus, you’ll notice that it has a low frame that’s very easy to mount. These are called walk-through frames, and they are great for the elderly especially. This doesn’t mean that younger users are going to appreciate it any less, however.

The height of the seat is adjustable, meaning that the EB-7 Plus is convenient for most people. A lot has been done to make this e-bike easy to use. The material is mostly aluminum alloy for lightweight and durability. In total, the bike weighs a measly 42 lbs. This makes the bike suitable for just about anyone.

More importantly, perhaps, this bike is foldable. This means that with a little tweaking, you can fold up the Swagtron EB-7 Plus and store it away pretty much anywhere. It’s going to fit inside any car trunks, attics, and similar spaces.

Comfort

With urban e-bikes, comfort is a big factor for a lot of people. For example, those that prefer sedans and don’t want to feel every bump on the road. Your mileage may vary if you’re a fan of sports cars, for example.

In this regard, the EB-7 Plus’s 16” tires are capable of soaking up the impact of most road bumps. Furthermore, it has enhanced rear suspension to make bumpy and potholed roads even less noticeable.

Adding a set of front suspension would make the vehicle even more comfortable. However, this would add weight and certainly get the bike to weigh quite a bit more. So, it’s better to have a lighter rear suspension e-bike than a heavier rear and front suspension bike that’s difficult to carry, that’s the thinking. Plus, adding front suspension would interfere with the bike’s folding.

Three Main Modes

Most urban e-bikes feature pedal assist and full-throttle modes. So does the EB-7 Plus, and it also has a pedal-only mode that completely turns off the motor such that the EB-7 Plus would become a regular bicycle.

Now, bear in mind that you’ll have a difficult time riding it in the pedal-only mode. After all, it is 42lbs of weight that you’re going to have to push on your own.

However, as mentioned, the battery is removable. This will make the e-bike somewhat lighter and you’ll be able to use it like any regular bicycle.

Accessories

You don’t get too many accessories with the e-bike itself, but Swagtron offers a variety of them on its online store. You can get spare batteries, wheels and tires, repair kits, helmets, chargers, and others. And they aren’t too expensive, either.

Summary

The Swagtron EB-7 Plus is one of the best urban electric bikes in its price range. It is usable by everyone, easily adjustable, highly tweakable, and relatively powerful.

Whether you’re new to the e-bike scene, or someone who has been around since the beginning, the EB-7 Plus may be for you. For the owners of the original EB-7, they may have no choice but to upgrade to this one.

Swagtron EB-5 Plus Electric Bike

Electric bikes aren’t only a modern fad. They are very convenient and easy to use. This is something that is here to stay. Whether they prefer rough terrain excursions or need a bike for their daily commute, people of all corners of the Earth are buying electric bikes.

And then the Swagtron EB-5 Plus is one of the most popular urban e-bikes. It makes for a very good choice, whether you’re a first-timer or an electric bike veteran. Let’s dig a bit deeper and see just what’s up with this model.

Comfort

On paper, sure, you may not care all that much about comfort. Well, you can be as pragmatic as you want, but comfort is ultimately a very crucial aspect of urban e-biking. For a start, you don’t want to buy an electric bike that you won’t feel comfortable riding every day.

But no worries with the EB-5 Plus, a very comfortable e-bike all around. For comfort riding on bikes in general, there’s more to it than just a comfy seat. Sure, the seat on this bike feels great and won’t make you sore. But comfort is more about setting up the seat and handle properly.

The EB-5 Plus has an adjustable bike seat. And this is an understatement. The seat is actually more than adjustable. It goes from a very low position and all the way to very high. So high, in fact, that there aren’t too many people who’d find the position comfortable. Still, you’re bound to find the perfect height somewhere within the adjustable range.

Now, the other important factor that determines biking comfort is the handlebar. If you can adjust it properly, in combination with the seat, you’ll have your comfort more likely than not. Toward this end, the Swagtron EB-5 Plus has a handlebar that’s adjustable in two ways. You can set the height, of course, but that’s not all. You can also set the 360-degree twist.

Why does the 360-degree adjustment matter? Because the handles are uniquely-shaped for maximum wrist comfort. And the better if you set this properly.

Controls

All controls on the Swagtron EB-5 Plus are located on the handlebar. This is something you’d expect of any bike, much less an advanced electric one. First, there are two brakes front and back and they work like a charm in safely bringing the rider to a full stop time and again.

You’ll also find the self-explanatory power button on the right handlebar. Of course, this is how you turn the vehicle’s motor on or off. It’s red and you can’t possibly miss it.

Engaging the motor can be done in two ways. The first is using the throttle on the right handlebar. The other way to do it would be using the pedal, much like you would on a regular bicycle. If you use the latter method, the e-bike will engage the pedal-to-go mode. This mode is very similar to the pedal assist mode that most e-bikes feature, but not exactly the same.

With the pedal assist mode, the motor is constantly running. Engaging the pedal-to-go mode will have the motor stop, a second after you stop pedaling. This will take some time to get used to, but it will help you save battery, which is sometimes essential.

Power

The battery on this e-bike is just as powerful as those on more expensive models. It doesn’t take a long time to charge and has a range of at least 15 miles on a single charge. If you ride this e-bike judiciously and make the most out of the pedal-to-go mode, you’ll significantly increase this range.

There’s a charging port located on the bottom of the bike (you’ll see a sticker indicating this). Once plugged in, the battery is fully charged within a few hours. If you’re worried about the battery charging port getting wet due to its location (as you should be), you can rest easy. There’s a rubber plug that covers up the port, making it water-resistant, perhaps even waterproof.

Size

This bike is foldable, but let’s talk about its full size first. Swagtron EB-5 Plus is a compact e-bike, similar in size to the traditional BMX-style models. Still, it’s not made for kids. It is versatile, though. Whether you’re 5’11” or 6’11”, you’re going to enjoy riding this electric bike.

Weight-wise, the bike can take up to 264 lbs. This isn’t that impressive, especially if you’re planning on bringing some luggage along with you. Still, a 264-lb. weight limit is acceptable for the vast majority of commuters, which are the main target group of Swagtron EB-5 Plus.

Compatibility

As mentioned earlier, this is a foldable e-bike, which is very convenient for modern city use. Don’t expect that you’ll be carrying this bike in your backpack – that’s asking too much from any e-bike. However, Swagtron EB-5 Plus folds down to a size that’s probably much smaller than what you’d expect.

When fully folded, it becomes just 26” x 23.6” x 15.6”.

This is very, very compact. But how does this bike do it? Firstly, Swagtron EB-5 Plus folds in the middle. Then, the handlebars fold back, and, finally, the pedals fold up. Yep, you end up with a package the size of a medium-sized package.

Safety

All in all, this bike is fairly safe. You shouldn’t allow children to use it, as it’s still capable of going 15 mph, but it won’t have you racing with any cars, either.

The brakes do a great job here and the bike itself is sturdy, so you don’t have to worry too much about safety with Swagtron EB-5 Plus.

Summary

The Swagtron EB-5 Plus is available at an incredibly low price for an electric bike, especially one of this quality. The EB-5 Plus is fantastic for your commutes and comes loaded with features. It is very compact, easy to use, and sturdy.

If you’re looking for a balanced e-bike, the Swagtron EB-5 Plus may just fit the bill.

Ancheer Folding 16-Inch Electric Bike

If you’re looking for a reasonably-priced e-bike, you won’t find one more reasonable than the Ancheer Folding 16-Inch. There is a reason why this model is so popular and it’s not just the convenient price tag. This bike is reliable and compact. It’s the people’s e-bike.

You’re not looking at the best electric bike in the world. Or at some low-quality bang-for-the-buck deal. You’re looking at the Ancheer Folding 16-Inch that’s extremely popular with commuters.

The Ride

When commuting in town, you want the ride to be good. You want an e-bike that’s comfortable and handles well. The ride on the Ancheer Folding 16-Inch may not be as good as on a mountain e-bike. But mountain e-bikes aren’t foldable and are overkill for city use. You also know why if you’re looking to buy a commute-level bike.

With that said, when compared to other foldable e-bikes, the Ancheer offers a smooth and stable ride. Yes, despite the 16” wheels, it does a fairly good job.

Don’t expect the ride of a limousine, however. For its design and size limitations, it is much more comfortable than it looks.

Bear in mind that this is a folding model and most comparable to other folding models.

Some people may complain about the small wheels, the narrow handlebar, twitchy and uneven turning, and so on. That’s because you can’t expect more stability than this with 16” wheels and a small handlebar. We’re talking about compact e-bikes and you can’t expect the Ancheer Folding 16-Inch to give you a smoother ride than a 20” mountain e-bike, for example.

Range

When looking at e-bikes in general, the Ancheer Folding 16-Inch’s range isn’t going to blow anybody’s mind – except perhaps with the low price.

The range of this e-bike is somewhere between 15 and 30 miles. It depends on whether you’re using the bike in the full-electric mode or with pedal assist. This is a decent range for e-bikes of this price range.

Power and Speed

Power and speed go together in electric bikes. The more powerful is the motor, the higher the speed and the bigger the battery you’re going to need.

The Ancheer Folding 16-Inch features a 250W rear-hub motor. What’s awesome about this motor is that it’s brushless. Brushless motor technology isn’t anything new and is already commonly found in power tools and e-bikes. However, at this price range, an e-bike with a brushless motor is a rare find. The most significant benefit of a brushless motor is that it uses magnets to function, allowing for a longer lifetime.

The 250W motor isn’t the most powerful in the world of e-bikes, but it’s enough to push this bike to a top speed of 15.5 mph. On flat pavement, it can even go to 17.5 mph. On inclines, expect around 12mph or less.

This one gives you the option for full-electric power. So, you get three pedal-assist modes that are progressive up to a full-electric power mode.

Riding Modes

Most e-bikes feature several pedal-assist modes from manual riding to fully electric. The Ancheer Folding 16-Inch doesn’t have a mode where you can use it like a regular bike. This is for a good reason – with the small wheels and compact size, riding this Ancheer model like a regular bike would probably be something of a nightmare.

In place of that, there are three pedal-assist modes as mentioned earlier. The first mode provides only 30% pedal assistance, which is good for a challenge. This mode is a bit easier than riding a regular bike. The second mode is up to 60% of assistance and pretty much a walk in the park. Finally, the third mode offers 100% pedal assistance. In other words, in this mode the e-bike relies solely on its electric motor to move.

Switching mode only takes a single pedal rotation. This gives you more dynamics and control over the bike.

User Interface

There is nothing fancy about the Ancheer Folding’s user interface. It’s a simple unit with two LED lights. It isn’t the best e-bike UI on the market, but it is ergonomic, intuitive, and encompassing all the information that you need while riding. This includes the remaining battery level and the current mode you’re in. This is all apparent at a glance, which is the entire point. If you are the pragmatic sort, you’re going to love the one on the Ancheer Folding 16-Inch.

There are three buttons on the handlebar: the power button, +, and -. Obviously, the power button turns the power on. And the + and – buttons are for toggling through the three pedal-assist settings. The remaining battery level is displayed with a row of four LED lights labeled “Power.” When the e-bike is fully charged or almost there, all four buttons are illuminated. You get the idea.

Assembly

Like most e-bikes, the Ancheer Folding 16-Inch comes in parts that you need to put together first. This is where the Ancheer 16-inch outguns its competition as it’s simple and easy to assemble. Plus, it’s a folding e-bike. Typically, folding e-bikes are more difficult to assemble for the first time but not this one.

Summary

At less than $500, the Ancheer Folding 16-Inch makes for a sensible commute electric bike. It won’t take you over hills or mountains, but it will get you from point A to point B in an urban environment and it performs well on any pavement. Expect an average speed of 14mph on a clear road.

If you’re looking for a bike to go on long tours with, forget about this one. However, if you’re going for something that will get you to work quickly and effortlessly, and which you can store away easily, the Ancheer Folding 16-Inch may be just what you’re looking for.
